The ARC 487 marked the beginning of a new design direction for Super Copa's racing truck category. The project focused on creating a recognizable and manufacturable competition vehicle while introducing a more aggressive and modern visual identity.

OVERVIEW ARC 487 Gen1

CHALLENGE
Some projects begin with a blank page. This one began with a legacy—and at the same time, it marked a true starting point that would later become a turning point in Freightliner’s sales growth.

The mission was to redefine the identity of Super Copa's racing trucks for a new generation without erasing the character that fans had celebrated for decades. The challenge extended far beyond styling—it required balancing performance, production feasibility, safety, regulations, and brand recognition while creating a machine capable of becoming the visual icon of a renewed championship.

DESIGN THINKING
Every great racing machine starts with a clear purpose.

The design process was driven by a simple idea: build a truck that looked unmistakably competitive while remaining realistic to manufacture and evolve. Every surface, proportion, and volume was carefully shaped to communicate strength, speed, and precision, establishing a visual language that could support future generations of the category. The ARC 487 became more than a race truck—it became the foundation for a new era of Super Copa design.

REFLECTION
The ARC 487 taught me that great design is never just about creating a beautiful machine—it is about creating momentum. This project transformed the way I approached motorsport, revealing the balance between engineering, manufacturing, branding, and emotion. It became the foundation of a design philosophy that continues to shape every project I create: performance begins with a story, and every story deserves a machine that people will remember.
